Your eclipse.ini file can be found in your eclipse folder. You cannot mix up 32 and 64 bit. I ensured Sun JDK 7 64-bit was the default java version. What DID work: Adding -vm option to eclipse.ini as suggested by Jayesh Kavathiya: I added the following to eclipse.ini: -vm C:/apps/java/jdk7-64bit/bin/javaw.exe Note: I did not have to uninstall any of the I downloaded the jdk 64 bit version from oracle onto my laptop but for some reason windows loaded it in the Program (x86) directory rather than the regular C:\Program directory. have a peek at these guys You can find Java folders in both of them, but you must add C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin to environment variable PATH.
