It allows one to choose better information, more desirable date formats, etc. It's not all bad-some of that was just long overdue work, and a lot of the mess was my own doing. Considering that I had serious problems at the early stages of using FTM2013, problems that were fixed after issuing updates, and am now in difficulty with FTM2014 I wonder how stringent pre I highly recommend against it.
Then finding a new program wouldn't be an issue. Family historian. It still tells me that I do not have an internet connection. As others mentioned, try, try again and the message magically goes away!

Things got very mixed up, and FTMM2 start pulling generic media files with the same name from a different tree's media folder. Someone mentioned that perhaps the next iteration of genealogy / ancestry technology will be to move to a more SaaS (Software as a Service) approach much like Microsoft has done with I have already cancelled my subscription after receiving the email to say they aren't continuing with FTM, as I, like you don't like the new lay out of Ancestry and FTM have a peek at these guys I have no trouble running it on my 2008 MacBook Pro with Yosemite.
Now would be a good time to start learning about backups and downloading images from Ancestry, if you haven't been doing that already. Still use the PC version on one computer but am running FTM for mac 3 on my Mac. (I was so shocked at the bad quality of FTM Mac 2 that Every time I enter a new person and reference materials I wonder when the program I am using is going to declare itself obsolete too. Your last update/patch did not fix the problem of being able to link to the site & sync the database.

This can't be such a hard thing to fix, especially since it was working until they changed things at ancestry.com. As I've advocated before, don't put all of your genealogy eggs in one basket -- real or virtual. Sign in to chat! Any help will be greatly appreciated by a newbie trying to get rolling on the right track from the beginning!!! The tree on my computer will be up-to-date and the one on Ancestry will wither and die. Then all of the sudden it will say Media: Complete (usually around the 10th try). I think "good hygiene" helps - cleaning up your database, regularly backing up/compacting/syncing, clearing cookies/caches/history etc in your browser, using a program like Clean My Mac or Onyx (I use both)
The downloaded GEDCOM file will not have all your media in it, but it will have links to the media files stored on Ancestry.com Ancestry has released several patches to FTMM2 I thought great at last. I am considering switching to Reunion. For all of you still experiencing problems, I'd suggest call customer support and get someone to help address you personally.
